It is our goal that everyone who learns with us, learns to love and respect water in all of its forms as much as we do; and have the skills to make safe choices when around any body of water.
It is our belief that anyone can learn to swim if they enjoy being in the water. We offer a gentle and trauma free approach to swimming lessons. Having a strong foundation of safety and trust is key.
We offer private and semi-private lessons. Our specialty is working with beginner swimmers with a fear of water or different abilities. However, all swimmers, of any ability, ages 3 and up are welcome in our program.
Private and Semi-private Lessons are designed for ages 3 and up.
Semi-private classes are typically siblings or friends

I am passionate about swimming and water safety. I have been a certified lifeguard, lifeguard trainer, swim instructor, swim instructor trainer and water fitness instructor for 25 years with both the American Red Cross and the YMCA. I began my Aquatics career at the NK Pool in Poulsbo when I took lifeguard training for High School P.E. way back in 1999. I continued to work there through college and beyond. I also taught at the Bainbridge Aquatics Center and the Silverdale YMCA before growing into the role of Aquatics Director for the YMCA of Greater Seattle.
During the pandemic, I began teaching swim lessons in my backyard in Seattle to try to meet the community needs not being met at the public facilities at that time. Teaching in a quieter, more controlled environment, I found my life work and purpose.
I specialize in working with those who struggle in a standard swim lesson programs, but work with anyone wanting to improve their swimming ability.
I am a life long lover of water and competitive swimmer. I joined Ms. Carlie's Swim school in March of 2024 to learn how to combine my passion for water and love of educating and working with children. I am so excited to bring my background in early childhood education to this program.

She has worked with and supported the success of children and young people in multiple venues in the past, both as a social worker and teacher. She turned her love of learning into a career as a University professor. She also has a lifelong love of water, and as a Certified Water Instructor, she is excited to share her teaching skills and love of learning with our with our smallest swimmers. As a teacher, she believes in the power of a positive attitude and reinforcement, and makes a practice of this in her work with children. She sees working with our youngest swimmers, and new swimmers as an opportunity to help them discover a lifelong love and respect for the water..

Anna is a lifelong lover of water, whether the ocean, pool, river, or a particularly deep puddle. With a history of teaching kids to swim at summer camp in her youth, Anna tries to bring light-hearted fun to each of her classes tailored to each student - because having fun in the water is the entire point! When not in the water, she can be found hiking with her husband and dogs.
